Digital Recorder Rentals

The Iowa High School Music Association has numerous digital recorders that have been purchased for use with the
IHSMA festival series. These recorders are available to rent for private festivals at the cost of $5 per recorder. All recorders
must be returned to the IHSMA office 3 weeks prior to the IHSMA Large Group Festival. Any recorders damaged or not returned must be
replaced at cost. Those interested should download and fill out the Digital Recorder Rental Agreement found
here.

School Enrollment Information – 2024-2025 School Year (2023-2024 Data as of July 17, 2024)

Classification Information

The classification of member schools shall be determined by the Executive Committee and reviewed on an annual basis. The Association shall use the current year’s official 9-11 enrollment as reported on the BEDS document to the IHSAA to determine classifications for the ensuing year. There will be a minimum of four classes that will divide the membership into classes of relative equal opportunity for students.

Classifications are as follows:

  • Class 4A: 9-11 enrollment of 600 or more students
  • Class 3A: 9-11 enrollment of 275-599 students
  • Class 2A: 9-11 enrollment of 150-274 students
  • Class 1A: 9-11 enrollment of 149 or less students
