IHSMA Constitution, Amended June 20, 2024 – See Article VI, Eligibility
Note: House File 2591 permits eligible eighth-grade students to participate in high school interscholastic athletics, grants local school districts the authority to adopt or decline that participation, and establishes implementation beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. The legislation applies specifically to athletics and does not affect Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA) eligibility requirements.
Under the IHSMA Constitution, 7th and 8th grade students may participate in IHSMA festivals with the exception of the All-State Audition process and solos at the State Solo and Small Ensemble Festival.
