Do not enter students who are unwilling to accept an assignment to either group.
- It is mandatory the posted names, instruments, parts, etc., be left intact and posted until the conclusion of the audition day.

VOCAL MUSIC ERRATA
NOTE: Correction to All-State Vocal Music Instructions and Part Errors
The following mistakes need to be corrected in your All-State music:
Ave Maria-Holst
- 1. Measure 3, Choir 1, Alto 1
Beat 6 in the alto 1 line should be an A-flat, not an F.
- 2. Measure 23, Choir 1, Alto 2
Beats 4-5 should be slurred to make the articulation identical to the Alto 1 line.
- 3. Measure 45, Choir 2, Soprano 1
The text underlay should read Sanc-ta Ma- rather than Ma-ri-a, so that it is identical to the Sop. 2 and Alto 1 lines.
Untraveled Worlds-Halley
Ignore the women's divisi instructions in the conductor's notes (#6) and do the following:
- At m. 45, Alto 1's sing the Sop. 2 line, beginning with "where-through", and then go to the lowest note on the soprano line from mm. 46-57.
- The divisi notes for womenÕs voices do apply mm. 154-155, mm. 169-171, mm. 175-177, and mm. 192-200.
- Note: The printed instructions accompanying your music contain an error. #5 under "Untraveled Worlds" should read mm. 81-84, not 181-184.
Achieved is the Glorious Work-Haydn
Make the following rhythmic changes:
- M. 43 change the quarter note on beat 3 to an eighth note followed by an eighth rest (all voices).
- M. 60 change the quarter note on beat 1 to an eighth note followed by an eighth rest (all voices).
- M. 67 change the articulation on beats 2,3, and 4 to a separated style (beat 3 in bass line should be a staccato quarter followed by an eighth rest).
- M. 68 change the quarter note on beat 1 to an eighth note followed by an eighth rest (all voices).
- MM. 73-75 lengthen each of the eighth notes (think messo de voce , ie < > on each)
My God is a Rock Parker and Shaw
Use the following enunciations:
- 1. Land should be sung without a final consonant d.
- 2. God should be sung with a final consonant d.
- 3. M. 114 close to the n in Amen immediately.

- The maximum number of entries for one school is 28 students - 7 singers per voice part. A student may appear in one entry only. Music need not be memorized for auditions.

A total of 600 voices will be selected - 300 females and 300 males. Female students will not be accepted on T/B parts; male students will not be accepted on S/A parts. Auditors will be instructed to select only clearly qualified singers regardless of quotas.
- Auditioning ensembles will be identified to the auditor by ONLY: school code number, entry letter, names of singers and voice parts. Be certain your students know their ensemble letter!
- Audition sites will post a list of accepted students and a list of singers to be recalled at the conclusion of the initial auditions.
- Materials to be used for auditions will be posted at each audition site at 7:30 A.M. on October 20, 2001.

- A singer in the ensemble playing pitches on a keyboard;
- A high school student, who is not a member of the auditioning ensemble, playing the pitches on a keyboard.

Students will be judged on the following factors: Intonation, rhythm, tone quality, and musicianship with strong consideration of dynamics and articulation.
- All selections must be performed in the designated key.
- For recalls, singers appear alone and sing their voice part unaccompanied. Pitches for recall will be given by a person designated by the audition manager. The pitch-giver will provide the starting pitch, the chord at the entrance, and then repeat the starting pitch.
- In the interest of balancing sections, accepted vocalists will be posted as either I or II. Should this be a change, the accepted vocalist is expected to learn the new part by the dates of the festival.
